Whether its public education on water safety, or through lectures or participation in Awareness Task Forces, Midwest Surf Medical is committed to its community involvement. Midwest Surf Medical can be seen in the schools, at community events, and in its participation on local aquatic and safety policy development.
Drowning prevention is Midwest Surf Medical's mission. Annually they hold community swimming lessons at cost for all ages. These lessons are focused on the swimming fundamentals and knowing how to handle aquatic emergencies. At these lessons everyone gets into the swim. Those not actively participating in the water are included into the lesson by learning important life long safety skills on rescue. first aid, and safety.
Midwest Surf Medical believes, "Everyone must know how to swim. No one ever drowned by the inability to make a basketball layup." -America's Couple (Doctor's Chambers).
Committment to community extends beyond the Aquatic misson. Midwest Surf Medical is also present in the US Armed Forces Reserve. Health professionals of Midwest Surf Medical are veterans of "Operation Iraqi Freedom". They are also actively involved in Homeland Security and Distaster Response Teams.
